A couple of weeks ago we received the draft plans for our 'new' house. We were thinking, are we doing the right thing, is this the right layout? What else should we consider? All these doubts went through our minds, should we do what the neighbours are doing and add a study downstairs? After a visit to the neighbours, they were raving about our layout and they were going to change it to be the same as ours. Strange eh?
Well the plans have now been submitted to the council for approval. We're pretty happy with the changes we are going to make to the house and the extra room we're adding. Let's hope the council approves and we are good to go in 6-8 weeks. Anyway we thought you might like to see the plans. We like 'em, now...
We're number 37 by the way... From the back of the new bathroom is the extension. We are going 6m back which apparently is quite long for 1890's terraced houses. The whole back extension will be our kitchen / diner with bi-fold doors to the back patio.
The look from the back with the skylight...
View from the side, we are looking to add an en-suite bathroom to the top floor. Let's see how the first planning application goes eh?
We have some time to wait for the planning permission to come through so in the mean time we are re-plastering all of the inside. As it so desperately needs!
Well done you two! Loving the updates and pics :)

Nice work Em and Mani!
ReplyDeleteWhat does the second storey plan look like, or are you not touching that yet? Just wondering if you can soften the degree of the steps to include a half-way landing and then a turn back over the utility room, to then enter the second floor from the...right (not sure where north is)?
That is going to be an awesome space you are adding!
Oh and would love to see how the downstairs study will work next door too!
Really excited for you guys, fingers crossed it all goes through quickly!
Second storey we're not touching just yet, we would like to add an en-suite bathroom to the master bedroom but we were advised not to try and get that through on these plans as it may get rejected. We considered moving the stairs Mon, but it would mean cutting 2m x 1m out of one of the bedrooms and since space is at a premium, we decided against it.
ReplyDeleteWe are thinking of a loft conversion as well, but that will come later pending budget! The loft is huge!
Good work Em and Mani. Looks good!
